INTERCOLONIAL CRICKET MATCH.

• Christchuroh, this day. The cricket match New Zealand r. New South Wales commenced at Lancaster Park this morning, when the weather was threatening, heary clouds banging about. New South Wales won the toes and went in first on a wicket that bad been protected from the rain. Mackenzie and Gould were the first pair of batsmen, Lawtoa and Robertson being the bowlers. Runs came steadily, principally from Robertnon's deliveries, and' after a quarter of an hour's play ten appeared on the board. With the^Bcore at 23, Robertson dismissed Gould with a bailer. 23—1—11. Cowley filled the vacancy, and after scoring a single Labatt missed him ab slip. The mistake was hob a costly one, however, as Robertson bowled the new-comer in his next over. 27—2—3. E. Noble then joined McKenzie, but ia Robertson's next over the latter was well caught at the wickets. 32—3—17. The players then adjourned tor lunch. >
