Christchukch, this day. Thk Preßbyberian General Assembly this morning considered the case of the Rev. S-. J. Neill of the Thames, against whoso connection with the Theosophical Society and doctrinal viewa exception had been taken by the Auckland Presbytery. The reference from the Auckland Presbytery was read. It stated that steps tliab bad been taken and gave the reports 0; the commission appointed to question Mr Noilly and make enquiries regarding his teaching and the division in bia congregation. The Rev. Sommerville stated at length the case on behalf ot the Auckland Presbytery, and gave an outline of the Anti-Christian teaching, of the Theosophical Sociaty. \ The Rev. Neill wa9 hot present ab the Assembly, but wrote explaining that be was unable to attend through a recent illness. He also forwarded a pamphlet entitled "The hißtory of the heresy hunt by the hunted."

The evidence taken ab the Thames by the Commission, and Mr Neill's letters to the Auckland Presbytery were also read. The discussion is still proceeding.
