FILLIS'S NEW CIRCUS COMPANY.
Bt the B.s. Pukaki. which arrived lasb ovening, came bhe firsb insbalmenb of hor«fls, baggage, ebc, belonging bo Fillis'a Circus, which opena here on the Harbour Board Reclamation Ground on Saturday evening next. The troupe performed at Gisborne on Monday and Tueaday to exceptionally large houses, and will arrive here, with the balance of horaes, fittings, etc.. by tbo Te Anau on Friday. Owing to the difficulty ot landing stock, ebc, at Gisborne, only such portion of the show actually required for a two - nighbs' exhibition waa pub ashore, nnd . the balance sent on. Mr Fillis' stock' intrade, however, is so large that such a divijion can be easily made wibhoub any detriment to the performance. Quite an ( army of men are at work on the Reclamation
Ground* making bhe ring, laying gas, and otherwise preparing for the opening, attended, of course, by tho usual crowd of onlookers, who.are always presenb on such
occasions, even though there be nothing particularly exciting to witness * yeb there it a charm about anything connected with i circus thab is hard to reaisb even by old oryonng.
