Timabo", this day. A meak and cruel outrage was perpetrated during the night. Three out of four cows belonging to a man named Whelan, enclosed in a small section in the borough, were slashed with a Bharp instrument. One bad a teab cut off, and a long scar on the side. Tha animal practically bled to death. Another had an ugly gash below the haunch, and a third a light scar on the back. A few chains away Messrs Peacock and Guiney, butchers, had horses crazing for the night on the public school grounds, and one of bhem had a long gash on the ilank, exposing the ribs and intestines. Ib ia not expected to live. Tho cutting was probably done with a sharp hedge knife. No clue ia yob found to the perpetrators.
