PARISH COUNCILS BILL.
London, February 3.
In the House of Lords, the Marquis of Salisbury moved to amend the "Pariah Councils Bill, requiring Parliament to approve of compulsory land sales. In doing so he said Parliament must retain guard over property. The Earl" of Kimberley thoughb the amondmenb would prevent small allotments. Lord Carrington said to adopt the motion would bitterly dissappoint the peasantry. The motion was adopted by a majority of 96.
