Thk evenb ab the West End Club's Law on Saturday was the match between H\ Pubcraon and A. G. Cooke for the Cham" pionship of Auckland. Ab first, tha players were very evon. Ab tho close of the fourth set they were equal, bub Cook ab this point of the contest showed that ho was too much for his opponent and won easily. The scores were : 6—l, 6—2, 3—6. 6—4. 6—i. There was nothing in the play of either that was strikingly brilliant, but the apparent evenness of the contestants mado the game an interesting one. Besides, those which have already been published, the following have been played oil': —Miss F. Billington (owes 15) beat Miss J. Dyson (receives 15), o—4, 6—4, Miss E. Russell (owes 15) boab Miss Faulder (owes _ 15), (5—4, 6—4. Mrs Gentles (owes 15) beat Miss Greatbach (owes 15), 6—3, 7—5. This completes the lirst round. Mies F. Billington (owes 15) beat Miss Caldwell (scratch), 6—5, 5—6, .6—4. In tho Gentlemen's Doubles, Taylor and Wells (receive 15) beab A. Paterson and W. Haven (scratch), 6—o, 6—5.
