JAMES CRAWFORD'S BANKRUPTCY.
James Crawford, a debtor, made a sworn statement before the Official Assignee yesterday as follows :—" I am 23 years of age, and have been in Auckland from my boyhood. I am a saddler by trade. In October, 1892,1 became a partner with J. .. W. Bush and Alexander Kennedy in asaddlery business. I had previously been Kennedy's apprentice, and was in hia employ when he joined Mr Bush, and remained in bheir joint employ up to the time,? of the present partnership. I put £300 into ,- the busioesa. which dated from the Ist . October, 1892, aa per copy of partnership \, deed (produced). My father gave mo £250,.. and lent mo the ballance (£SO). 1 had' nothing to do with tho financial manage- i menb of the business. Ab the end' of twelvo months stock was baken, and the accounta wore made up by an accountant. The rebult showed thab the firm was losing money, aa per copy of * profit and loss accounb (produced), and. I -. became anxious to have tho debts paid and the business wound up before we became further involved. I could not get Mt Bush (who held the largest interest in the concern) to agreo to this course, and my father then asked what sum they would give to release mo from the partnership. £150 was suggested, and Mr Bush ultimately agreed to let me havo goods to thab amount, aa he was not prepared to pay me the cash. My solicitor was instructed to arrange my release on those terms, but Mr Bush afterwards declined bo allow me more than £ICO in goods, and by the advice of my solicitor I then decided to file, aa I wished to see the creditors paid. My schedule shows the joint assets and liabilities cf tho firm of Bush and Kennedy to the best of my knowledge and belief. I havo no separate liabilities or assets.
