AUCKLAND KENNEL CLUB'S DOG SHOW.

THE OPENING DAY.

The Auckland Kennel Club's second annual Dog Show was opened to the public this afternoon ab two o'clock. During the morning judging was proceeding, and the importanb labours in this department were finished shortly afber noon. The judges tor the different classes were Messrs E. B. Kinlocb, A. A. White and J. 0. Evitt, and although there were tho usual dissatisfied persons, on the whole the three gentlemen did their work well. The dogs exhibited do nob total co many as lasb year, bub the quality is much superior owing to ib being compulsory bhab all dogs for competition must be registered under Kennel Club rules. There are four Wellington dogs exhibited, comprising bwo field spaniels (black), and a mastiff bitch and greyhound. The four gained prizes, and .vere much admired. There aro also four exhibits from Cambridge belonging to Messrs Mack, Kerr and Cleary. The best classes represented iv the Show are fox terriers, setter 3 and spaniels. Among bhe fox borriers Mr i Thomas Shewring's Harewood Fireworks came in for high praise, also Mr R. H. Wilson's champion field spaniel Squire Waller. In the setters, Mr C. J. Phillipp's Duchosa 11. deservedly gained first in its class* and special for setters. A good number of the larger class of doge, such as mastitis and Newfoundlands, are exhibited.' There are also some splendid specimens of greyhounds, Mr George Peonell's Adelaide 11. taking first and special prizes. Mr Thomas McEwin's splendid sbud dog Blue Cap, who has won the leading events of coursing meetings at Auckland and Dunedin, was shown, with three of Lis progeny. Mr Macready's wellshaped greyhound Porb Phillip, was also greatly admired. Among tho collies, Mr H. B. Dexter's fine dog Rob Roy gained first and special. Mr W. H. Cooper's Eden Jess took first prizes for bibches under and over 12 monbhs. She is a fine specimen of her class. The arrangemenbs for bhe Show are capibal, and the whole is well carried out under the supervision of Mr Chas. Grosvenor, aided by Mossrc F. C. J. Avery, Phillipps, Hitchcock, Shewring, McEwin and Craig. The show will be open to-night until ten o'clock and during the whole of to-morrow, when special attractions are announced for tho evening.
