MASHONALAND.
THE MATABELE WAR.
Capetown, October 23. Dr. Jameson reports that a thousand scouts are beating the country within a radius of ten miles of the united columns.
Large numbers of cattle were secured after the recent engagements. A small party of Matabeles entered Tati, but were driven back with the loss of three of their chiefs.
The Matables are massing on the Shangani River, and the British columns are pressing forward
The British forces have been successful io several skirmishes during the last day or two.
Major Adams is expected to reach Bulawayo to-day. Lobengula haa sent one of his chiefs to parley with the English.
