THE GENERAL ELECTION.
A meeting of the Auckland Brewers and Licensed Victuallers' Association was held yesterday afternoon, in order to discuss prospects for the forthcoming olecbion, the question of supporting particular candidates. Nothing dofinibe, however, was decided on, tho meeting boing adjourned owing to the absence of several members. It has been stated thab the Association has decided to support Messrs T. Thompson, M.H.R., A. Porterand W. Crowther for the Auckland City eeats, bub we wero informed bo-day by tho Secretary to the Association thab no definite action whatever has yeb been decided on with regard to the approaching general elections. Mr E. Mitchelson addresses a meeting of Eden electors in the Dovonporb Hall on Wednesday evening nexb. Mr W. F. Buckland announcos thab he bas decided to contest the Manukau scab ab bhe general election. Mr Frank Lawry will address the Parnell electors in the Parnell Public Hallon Wednesday evening next. A meeting of the members of the liquor trade will, ib is 3tated, be held next week, with referonce bo political matters. Mr Jackson Palmer addressed a crowded meoting of electors ab bhe Wade lasb nighb. Mr Lord was in the chair. Ab the conclusion of his address Mr Palmer received a vote of confidence. Tho Hon. R. J. Seddon addressed a large meeting here lastt nighb. His speech was almost a repetibion of bhe ono delivered ab Feilding a few days ago. Mr Malcolm Niccol addressed the electors of Eden at bhe Avondalo Hall lasb evening. The hall was crowded, and bhe audience included many ladies. Mr Bollard occupied bhe chair. Mr Niccol obbainod a quieb and abtentive hearing. Mr Wesley Spragg proposed a vote of thanks to Mr Niccol for his address, which was carried unanimously.
