PROPOSED ENGAGEMENT OF AN EXPERT.

Wellington, this day. The Premier intonds asking the Queensland Government to place at the disposal °' the Government of this colony, the service® of the principal Government geologist there> Mr R. Jack, the intention being to employ him in tha examination of deep levels in mining on the Wost Coast, Thames and Otago goldfields. Mr Jack, who ib a geologist of European reputation, is the leading mining expert of Australia.
