AN EXCITING CAPTURE,

Some excitement was caused in Brighton Road, Parnell, yesterday morning through the capture of a lunatic named John Henry Wilson. It appears that Mra Wilson informed Constable Ilutchinaon on Sunday night that her husband was in a state of iiiflanity. Tlie family, consisting of the husband, wife and four children, resido in Brighton Road, aud Wilson was a commercial traveller, principally engaged in the Island trade for a Duuodin firm. About thrao months ago, when coming by steamer from Wellington to Auckland, it is stated that Wilson showed signs of insanity, and ho was pub under arrest, but on his arrival in Auckland friends took charge of him, and he apparently recovered. However, latoly Wilson again showed signs of insanity, and on the advice of Constable Hutchinson, his wife laid an information which was sworn before Dr. Gilos, R.M., to the efl'oct that her husband was in3ane and unfit to bo at largo. Wilson was made aware of the steps which wore being taken, and yesterday morning became very violent. He armed himself with a short dagger, with which he attacked his wifo, who with her children and the lunatic's father had to run for their lives, and Mrs Wilson again sought Constable Hutchineon and informed him ot the state ot affairs. Constable Hutchiuson got the assistance of Constable Lamb, and on arrival at the house, they found the front door locked and a crowd about the place. They could soo Wilson inside, with the dagger in his hand They went round to the back of the house, and finding the back door unlocked they entered noiselessly and seized the excited man befoie he was aware of their presence, and he was quickly overpowered. Wilson waa conveyed to the Central Police Station, and on the testimony of Drs. Lindsay aud Philson was committed to the Avondale Lunatic ABylum.
