Junction.—The manager reporta_ that tho quartz on the footwall carries mineral, and looks promising for cold. Ho thinks thab the hard quartz showing: will soon be cub out when a change for the better may be expected. Norfolk.— The reef at present is very small, bub the country has considerably improved for the last few fcefc. Moanataiap.i.—Driving has been commenced on a lode which was intersected in the south croas-cub and driven eastward for 130 foot. This lode is 2 feob thick and very compact. Rather poor grade of quartz has been coming to hand from the Golden Age reef at the Point Russell level, but a few pounds (seven or eight) of picked stone were obtained on Saturday in the top stope near the big reef. The Burface dirt ia shaping a little better again, 31oz of amalgam having been obtained from 250 tons treated. There have been 50 tons of quartz crushed for 230z of amalgam. Hazelbank. — In carrying along tho loading stope eastward on Darby's reef at the No. 2 intermediate ib has been ascertained that tho lead driven on for tho last 30 feot has only boen a droppor and tho main lead ia in the hanging wail. Driving ha 3 thereforo been commenced upon the main lead which is a little split up, but will coma together again when driven upon. A little gold baß boen seen in tho quartz and the country is all thab could be deeired. At No. 1 level the lead i 3 six inches thick and shows gold frequently. In the second stopo the lead looks well, although it is somewhat split up. Moat of the vans carry a little gold, and in all there is aboub 15 inches of crushing dirt but ib requires careful selection. Ten poundß of picked stone were obtained from here this week. Crushing commenced to-day.
