RIFLE ASSOCIATION MEETING
AUCKLANDERS LEADING,
Sydney, October 16. The Rifle Association Meeting began today, the weather being fine, though hot. In the Merchants' Continuous Match Sergeant Doughty, of the "A" Battery, Auckland, scored 33 out of a possible 35. In the first stage for the Queen's Prize, Volunteer Tobin, of the Auckland City Rifles, leads with 67 out of a possible 70. Sydney-, this day. In the first stage of the Queen's Match (300 and 500 yards), Tobin, of Auckland, who was top Bcorer, made five successive bulls'-eyos at SOOyrls. Captain W. Ballinger, of Potone Rifle Club, Sergeant Doughty, of "A" Battery, Auckland, and Gunner Howe, of the " D " Battery, Wellington, each take prizes in the match. Last year, Private Kruse, of the Wanganui Rifles, won this match, with the score of 64 points.
