ACME G.M. COMPANY.

The first meeting of shareholders in the Acme G.M. Company (no liability) was held this afternoon at the office of Mr H. Gilfillan. There was a fair attendance. Mr A. Wright being voted to the chair. The Acting-Secretary, Mr Gilfillan, reported that 26,000 shares had been . baken up oub of 33,000 which were offered for sale. Albogether 37,600 shares had been subscribed for. The following resolutions wore then adopted: "Thab tho Acme licensed holding be formed into a company, under the no-liability section of the Mining Companies Act, 18S6, thab the name be the Acme Goldmining Company, with a capital of £5,000, divided into 50,000 shares at 2s each, of which 17,000 are to bo allotted to the vendors, paid up to la each ; 20,600 shares to be allotted to the remaining shareholders at this date, paid up to 4d each ; and the remaining 12,400 shares are to be reserved for the present.

Directors were appointed as follows :— Captain W. Smith, Messrs C. Clayforth, P. J. L. Smith, A. Wright and H. T. Gorrio, Mr IT. Gilfillan to be legal manager. It was also decided that bhe 12,400 unallotted shares be registered in the name of the legal manager in trust for the Company. It was also agreed thab there should be no charge made for the registration of shares, and no call bo bo made above Id per share.

Mr A. H. Nathan informs ua thab he haa decided nob to contest the mayoralty. He thinks that it would take up too much of hia time.

Last evening the usual weekly inspection of the Auckland Engineers Volunteer Company was held in the Drill-shed, Captain Anderson being in command. A course of instruction in knotting and splicing was given by Corporal Boyle, of the torpedo corps ab bhe North Shore, to tho main body; while a section of the corps waa exercised in signalling, and another was given instruction in volley firing drill.

An excellenb programme haa been prepared for the concert bo-morrow nighb in the lecture hall at the V.M.C.A. Buildings. Amongsb bhe vocalists are Miss L. Conway, Madame L. Tutschka, Messrs F. A. Clarke, W. Marbiu and H. Sbebbing. Insbrumonbal numbers will be contributed by Herren L. Tutschka and Winkelmann, Messrs S. Jackson, J. A. Beale, J. Jackson, Arthur Smith and McKoan.
