TO CORKESPONDENTS.

'A True Sport"-writes from Durgaville com7iientin!f on the recent totnlisator dividend case which w.is beforo tho Court. The letter is full of libellovm statements. The dispute wasfoncpht out in open Court, and a competent R.M.in MrPv. S. Busli, heard the evidence, so we cannot open our columns for tho insertion of Ihc letter.

By the s.s. Tarawewwhich leaves for Napier to-morrow a valuable lob of Auckland racehorses will be shipped to Napier to fulfil racing engagements, and thonce be taken ro Christchurch. Firsb and foremost among them will be St. Hippo, and the others of Geo. Wright's team to be sent are Stanmoor, Miss Let by, Satyr, and tho flj'ing two-year-old filly Forme. Major George's colt Pegasus will also bo shipped to fulfil his engagemenb it\ the Hawke's Bay Guinoas, and afterwards The Workman joins him, and the pair go on to Christchurch to fulfil their engagement in the New Zealand Cup. Major George will also send either Cleopatra or Anniversary to Chriatclinrch to fulfil two-year-old engagements. In St. Hippo, Pegasus, and The Workman, Auckland has throe worthy representatives, but of the trio I certainly have nio?t fancy for St. Hippo. Pegasus does not incur a penalty for the New Zealand Cup by winning tho A.R.C. Spring Handicap at Ellerslie on Saturday last. Mr L. D. Nathan has had a slice of good luck. The brood mare Jadestono (bySword Pance—Onyx), which he purchased at Mr W. R. Wilson's sale ab St Albans in March last for 110 guineas, has produced a colt foal to the imported English horse Eiridspord. This is a bighly-bred youngstor indeed.

Asthe Whangarei Park Racing Company, who now own tho Kensington Park grounds, have decided not to bold any meeting this year, an association has been formed in the Whangarei district calling themselves the Whangarei Turf Club, who intend to renb the Kensington grounds from the Company for a meeting to be held this summer, on the sth and b'th days of January next, and they have decided to run under the North Auckland Racing Association rulen. The proposed officers are as follows:—R. Thompson, Esq., M.H. P.,., President; James Smeaton, E?q., and R. Forsyth, Esq., VicePresident; J, S. Clendoii, Esq., Judge; and G. Clark • Walker, Secretary and Treasurer.

A telegram from Dunodin states that the Dnnedin Jockey Clnb programmes for the ensuing season show £2,845 for tbs Spring Meeting, £3,065 for the Autumn, £450 for tha Anniversary, and £1,215 for the May Meeting, being £770 leas than last year. Tirailleur's half-broiher Tireur has been sold co R. Gooseman for £50. This colt cost 950 guineas when a yearling, so that be has been a bad purchase for Mr Go!lan. Kiversdale, Thame and Free Lance have been Rcratchod for the Flying Handicap ab the Hawke'a Bay Jockey Club's Meeting. Victrixis withdrawn from theFirsbHurdles. The stallion Blairgowrie did not arrive in the s.s. Tarawera yesterday after all. It is now stated that the purchaso has fallen through. I am informed that when the Tarawera was in Sydney everything was in readiness on board for bringing a thoroughbred horse to Auckland, bub he did not turn up. The following foalinga are reported :— Mr T. Morrin's Valontina, by Leolinus— Lyre, filly by Castor. Mr Walters' Lady Emmeline by Somnus—Fishwoman, colt to to Cuira?Bier. After Pegasus scored his win in the Spring Handicap at Ellerelie on Saturday, two or three hundred was taken at 100's Jo 7, that he win* the New Zealand Cup. Ab Napier, Florence McCarthy dam of Beseio McCarthy has dropped a iilly to Medallion. It is not generally known that Sapphiro {dam of Ballater, the Hawkesbury Handicap winner) graces tho paddocks of VVelfintrton Park. She is owned byMrThos. Morrin, and is in foal to Medallion. Snrncen has beon scratched for tho Now Zea'and Cup and all engagements at tho Spring Meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Ciub.

The Stewards of the Canterbury Jockey Club mot <m the 11th September to conBi'der elm protect; lodged by Major Ueorgo against Mr D. O'Brien receiving the stakes for the First Challenge Stakes run at tho Autumn Meeting of tho Canterbury Jockey Ciub. The race, it will bo remembered, was won by Loyalty, and Major George objects to Mr O'Brien receiving the stakes on tho ground that his name was on tho forfeit list nt the timo the rnco was run, Neither Major George nor Mr O'Brien was prcpont, and tho Stewards decided, on the fnotum of Mr Stead, to adjourn further (w>nrrng until Monday, November 6th.

Elnwick, as scon at Flomington last Novelrbor and now (writes Cranbrook), would hardly be taken for the same animal. Then, Teksum's near relative was, like tho son of Musket, a slab-sided, leggy, woedylooking customer, but as seen on Saturday ot Cauifield, the son of Nordenfeldt and Albatrop.s is now the beau ideal of a racehorse, Elswick has thickened and " grown down" in a most wonderful doeree, and when tho spring handicaps nre being discussed backers would, perhaps, do well to lemomber that this horse is trained by .Alox. Taylor at Burrumbeeb, whence a •' few " winners have come. Of tho accident to Carnage, "Terlinga," In last week's " Australasian," says that tho colt was amiss ten days before tho news leaked out. Tho enforced spell must prejudice tho colt's Derby prospects, as, owing 10 teething troubles necessitating caution, lie was none too forward at the time of tho accident. Rather than risk his future career, it may even be decided that he Aall not be persevered with for tho Derby.

Saturday's " Napier Telegraph " contains the following Hastings training notes : —Merganser does not seem to have much work put into her, but she is vory well, and this goes for a good deal. She should be fit and well on New Zealand Cup day, if nothing goes wrong. Riverside is wrong. He has split his hoof. Zanella's full brother will probably win moro races as a two year-old than she did. Cheater and Jack went over hurdles this morning, both taking them well. The latter is improving considerably. Lochness waa cent four times round, and fairly revelled in his work, despite the heavy naturo of the track. He is shaping better than he did a week ago. The fact of the matter ia that he cannoned with Merganser recently, and although the mare was not injured, he got the worst of the contact, and it did him no good. He is doing as consistent work as any animal on the ground. Haoata went round by himself. He has picked up lately, and shapes very well. St. Andrew is looking well, and if he keeps sound should bo one of the most dangerous horses any owner would wish to meet in handicaps or weight-for-age races later on, Thame also looks pleasing to the eye. Tussock, Midas, Sister Mary and others were also sent round, bnt no idea was given of their capabilities. Strophon, who has been doing very good work, met with a slight accident the other day, and had to be eased in his task. Ua looks well and gallops ditto. Qililb is still in training, and his owner may get a few good races out of him yet. Roaefeldt looks well to tho eye and, with care, may regain the form which she latterly seemed to have lost in her races. Rangiatea i 3 particularly well and seems to relish his gallops exceedingly. He is doing as well as anything on tho track, if not botter, and will probably go across to the meeting on tho other coa9t this month. It is stated that H. Goodman is going to take Casket, the Castor—Bangle colt, to AußCralia, where he ia engagod in some two-year-old races. It is stated thnt Westmero and Pom Pom will represent Mr Paul at tho Hawke's Bay Jockoy Club's Spring Meeting. Westmere is engaged in the Hawke's Bay Guineas, while Pom Pom, who is by Wapiti from Legera, will run in the two-year-old engagements. Tempest has been backed for £1,500 to win the New Zealand Cup. The whole of tho monoy was laid at 100 to 2. " Asriiorieoua" pick.l; Pulvil or Patron to win the V. R.C. Derby. Tho Auckland-owned Titstarted favourite for the Blnkehurst Handicap at the Mooreh'old Pony Meeting on tho 12th inst. and ran third.
