At tho Police Court this afternoon, J. J, Craig was charged with that he did commib a breach of the Auckland City Council bylaws in that ho failed to register his cart. Mr Thos. Cotter appeared for the Council, and Mr Devore for tho defendant, who pleaded guilty. A fine of 5s and costs was inflicted. The city authorities brought the action as a test caso.
Tho anti-foreign feeling in all parts o^ China is spreading to an alarming extentIn Northern Hodan, where the Canadian Presbyterian Mission has been established several years, this feeling is very strong, and in Central China placards are to be seen everywhere, threatening to kill every foreigner in the country, unless they tako lessons from the riots that have taken place, and clear out.
