MIDLAND RAILWAY CONTRACT.
A PROBABLE COMPROMISE.

Wellington, this day. Mr Wilsok Manager of the Midland Railway Company, has received a message from the directors in London intimating their accopance of the modified terms of contract recommended by the Public Accounts Committee. It is expected the House will agree to thereport, and bhab the work will proceed with at once.
The Public Accounts Committee in their amended report recommended that debentures bearing 3£ per cent, interest be given to the Midland Company to the full value of land grant to be earned, plus 15 per cent, of the value formerly placed on the land, the Company to surrender its right to aelecb further land, and bo have five years extention of contract;.
