The " Sporting Life " gives great praise to Turner for his bowling against Notts, where he secured 13 wickebs for 52 runs.
The following is the English eleven chosen by Mr Thornton in a match which began to-day against bhe Australians ab Scarborough :—Stoddart, W. Read, Jackson, E. Smith, Lockwood, Richardson, Peol, Keinble, Newham, Gunn, and O'Brien. Jarvis, Coningham, and Walter Giffon are not playing. The weather is fine, and the wicket lovely. The attendance is good. The home team batted first and have scored 170 runs without the loss of a wicket. Stoddarb and Jackson, the two batsmen, wore unable to do anything with Turner's bowling, but they punished Giffen severely. With the score at 54, Trumblo superseded Giffen, and McLeod weub on at Turner's end. Runs continued to come fast, and the century was hoisted. As the result of 75 minutes' play, Trotb and Bruce were tried without avail, and at 155 Turner and Gill'en again took up bhe bowling.
