DEATH OF MR D. H. GRAHAM.

It will come as a greab surprise to even hia most intimate friends to learn that Mr D. H. Graham died yoaterday at the promising ape of 26, from Brighb's disease of the kidneys, an illnesa from which he had been suffering for only some three months. Mr Graham, or " Dave " Graham as he will be bettor known to a host of friends in athletic circles, was the second eon of Mr Walter Graham, a well - known citizen of many years' standing, and prior to his demise had worked with hia brother as a cabinetmaker. He was ever a prominent figure in athletic sports, taking an active part in football and cricket, but more particularly in the latter game, as for the past two years he has not played football regularly. When the Ponaonby Cricket Club annexed the Association Junior Cup, Mr Graham was one of itn working members, and ii» the same season he carried off the trophy presented by Mr H. Reeß George for the best batting average in the junior division. Subsequently, he threw in his lot with the Gordon team, and always proved himself to be an excellent all-round player. During his cai ocr as an exponent of the popular Rugby game, he was a cenbre-half of the Waitemata Junior and Gordon Senior Clubs, in the lattor capacity playing alongside of " Barlow" Madigan, Tom Ryan and others. Mr Graham was further a muscular Christian, and besides beiug a regular attender of' the Beresford-sbroeb Congregational Church, bo was a member of the Young Men's Bible Claßs connected with the Sunday School. He was also a very popular member of tho Mutual Improvement Society, where his presence will be greatly missed. It is almo3t needless to say that great sympathy is expressed for his bereaved relatives, whiie tho loss of ao excellent a young man has occasioned a widespread regret. The funeral left his late residence, at the corner of Hepburn and Totara-streets, this afternoon, and tho cortege, which was a very long one, and was a very imposing spectacle, proceeded to the Beresford-Btroet Church. A short service was conductod thero by the Rev. Mr Burgess, appropriate hymns being rendered by the Sunday-school scholars and choir. The funeral then wended its way to Waikomiti, where the interment is to take place.
