THE NEW HEBRIDES.
STATEMENT IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS. London, September 1. The attempts to incite the French anuexatiou of the New Hebrides is attributed to wire-pullers, who are anxious to force Australia to purchase Mr Higginson's former interest; in the Islands. The " Standard " states thab French anuoxation of tho New Hebrides ie, obviously, intolerable, and that it is requisite that the British Foreign Minister should be on the alort. In the Hcuso of Commons, Sir E. Grey explained that the New Hebrides Convention does not fix a date for its termination.
