London, August 1. The " Standard's " Paris correspondent says that Lord Dufferin and M. Develle have signed a protocol settling

the differences over the Siamese boundaries and arranging for a neutral zone. Lord Dufferin returns to England to-morrow.

The " Daily News' " correspondent at Bangkok says that Admiral Huraant

has issued an order for a fresh blockade, and bas ordered the British ships Pallas and Swift to withdraw.

It is feared that the French intend to attack Bangkok and to hold it as guarantee.

Sir E. Grey, when questioned in the House of Commons, said the Government had not received confirma-

tion of the report of the blockade being raised, but he declined to enter into details.

The Paris papers confirm the statement, in the "Standard" as to the settlement.but the Bangkok correspondent of the " Times," wiring to-day, says that it is feared the French Admiral is acting on divergent orders rrqm Paris.

It is officially stated that Siam has agreed to give the guarantee demanded by France.

M. Pavie, the French ConsulGeneral, who withdrew during the height of the dispute, has returned here.
