The directors propose a dividend of 10 per cent., and the creation of a reserve fund. Lasb evening a sale of work was held in Waite's Hall, Mount Eden, by the Ladies 1 Guild of St. Barnabas' Church Mount Eden, in aid of the Church funds. There was a good attendance. A conversazione was held after the sale. Miss Claries Brabazon played a number of pianoforte selections. Miss Edith Jcnea sang "My Laddie and I," and Mr Brabazon sang "A Warrior Bold." Mr Jour^m contributed an amusing reading. H.M.s. Rapid, Captain Sir Henry 0. Ogle, arrived at Nukualofa (Tonga) from Sydney and Fiji on the Bth inst. The. young king of Tonga, George Taufaahau, paid a visit to tho Rapid on the 11th inst., being received with every honor. Tho yards of the warship were manned and a royal salute of twenty-one guns was fired. From Tonga the Rapid goes to Fiji and the Gilbert Islands. The Hope of Auckland Tent (LO.R.) last nighb held the first of a series of " harmony nights" in the lodge room, Foresters' Hal!, Karangahape Road, and it was well attended. Mr J. G. Carr, D.S. presided. An excellent programme of songa and recitations was gone through, contributed by Mrs Moody, Misses Grindrod, and Oliphant, and Meears Brookes, Hood Moody, Frith, Ward, Scale and Cook. It is proposed to hold the next harmony night in a month's time.
