Assaui.t.—Heremai (a Maori) was charged that on the 25th March ab Avondale be did. unlawfully assault and beat Jas, Brinsted. This casearoße in connection with cruelty to a dog, which was before the Courb lasb week.—Mr Dufaur appeared for defendanb, and pleaded guilty.—Mr Mahoney, for tho informant, said his ciienb would be satisfied if a nominal fino were imposed.—Dr. Gil>33 said bhat under the circumstances he would impose a fine of 10s and costs, dofeudant to enter into his own recognisances to keep the peace for 6 months.
