THE SHIPPING STRIKE.

CONFERENCE OF TRADES UNIONS.

London, April 17. The London dockers have deferred striking in supporb of their Hull comrades pending a conference of the Trades Unions throughout the country, which will be held tonight. The shipowners state that tbey are throughly prepared. The majority of the Prees discourage the strikers on the ground that their action ia untimely. The shipowners assert that they are besieged by non-unionists. Mr J. H. Wilson, M.P., asserts that ib will be impossible to replace unionists if a general strike occurs. Mr Burns informed the leaders of the men thab he would assisb them to fight. Mr Tilletb told them thab the forces of capitalists had improved since 1889, and would require more science to defeat them.
