The paddle-steamer Te Aroha, which ha 3 been for some months past engaged in the Auckland Harbour trade by Messrs Bradney and Binns, has been sold to Mr J. Bindon, of Te Horeke, Hokianga, for the Hoki« anga harbour service. Mr Bindon haa secured the Government mail-carrying. contract for the Hokianga harbour, and as the Government have increased the value of the contract bo £300 per annum, on condition thab a sbeam launch should be used in the maiPcarrying work, the contractor has acquired the Te Aroba for the purpose.: The headquarters of the steamer will be Ta Horeko, at the head of the harbour whence she will run regular trips to Hokianga. Heads and to the other centres ot population along the Hokianga River and tributaries. She will leave here shortly fos Hokianga.

The local agent in charge of the Government Labour Bureau (Mr Ferguson) informs us that men out of work who may not be able to take up harvesting work in the country will have opportunities offered them to go scrub-cutting on contracb up tho country, on application to him.
