A Sydney paper relates a rather amusing outburst of entlniHiasm by an embryo mining community in Victoria. According to the journal I quote, three tone of tin ore —only three tons and nothing more—were lately rooted oub of a mine at Omeo(Vic) Tho result of this brilliant success is recorded in tho local paper :—' A public holiday wds proclaimed and great enthusiasm was manifested in the event. A very large gathering assembled from all parts of the district). The procossion, headed by the town band,' Btarted from the company's office and marched through the town. A photograph was taken before the waggon etarted. The town was gaily decorated with flags and banners, moßti conspicuous being the banner on the waggon, bearing the inscription, " Three tons on board, 'three millions to follow."' The report further states thatthe shareholders had good reason to be proud. Then they let fireworks off in the evening, and Omeo got comfortably inebriated. Now, the Sydnoy paper is waiting to hear whab liquidator ■ had been appointed.
