The weekly returns of the Bank of England published to-day show tho total reserve to be £14,800, being an increase of £292,000 over tho previous week. Tiio proposition of .reserve to liabilities is 43 84. Three months bills are discounted at 1\ per cent; consols, 91i; New Zealand, 4, per cent, inscribed stock 105, 3& per cent,; ditto 97, New Zealand long-berried wheat, ex warehouse, quiet at 33s ; Cantorbury frozen mutton, 4£d per lb ; Wellington, 3id: i>eof, forequarter, .*Ud; hindquarters, 3j}d. New Zoaland hemp; The market is strong, the firmness of holder? preventing any business being done. Danish butter, 130s. South Australian wheat, ex warehouse, C|tiietat3-ts; Victorian eje warehouse also quiet at 33s 3d. Sugar : German, beet, 13s lOJd; Java, quiet at 16s; No. 1, best Scotch pigiron, job in Clyde, steady at 41s 6d; silver, 3a I\<X. A portion of the butter ex Australians been sold at 120s to 1225, subject to tho quality being equal to thnt of last year.
