A POPUPAR ENTERTAINMENT.

One of the largest houses that have yet as« sembled in the Agricultural Hall greeted the clever performance of Messrs Wirth Bros, and their company on Satnrday evening, the hall being filled in all parts from the pit to the dress circle. Throughout, the entertainmenb was an excellent one, the circus performance and tha wonderful feats of bhe Japanese and Arabs being alike clever and neat. The exhibitions of equestrianism and acrobatics by the members of the company were unusually good, and the two little boys of the Wirth family especially received a greab ovation for thoir daring riding, and Miss Edith Wirth, too, performed some exceedingly surprising and clever acts oa horseback. The Valazie Bros, were highly successful in their flying trapeze act. Tbe clowns of the show appeared to have made a special effort for Saturday night's shovr for they surpassed themselves, and thab is saying a great deal. Benham wibh his "den of lions" bhrew bhe audience into convulsions of laughber. His trained pig acb, boo, was very amusing, and bhe closing farcical French, sketch " Madame Heune," caused uproarious merriment. This afternoon the whole troupe paraded Queen-street, in full paraphernalia. The lasb nighbs of the Wirths 1 season in Auckland are now announced. There will be an entire change of programme on Wednesday evening, when some novel features will bo introduced. There will be no matinee on Wednesday afternoon, bub a special matinee performance will be given on Friday afternoon for the benefit of farmers and others who will be in town on that day, and who are unable to attend the evening performances of the show. The troupe are doing exceedingly good business in Auckland, as they deserve to do with bheir show, which is aa excellenb all-round entertainment. Saturday night's programme will be repeated this evening.
