THE ALLEGED OUTRAGE AT MANGERE.
The fencing in of land which is claimed aB waste land of the Crown, has aroused the spirit of a large number of Mangere settlers, and for some time the said fence has been removed at night time only to be re-erected by the owner of the adjoining land.
On Saturday afternoon in broad daylight some ten or more men proceeded to the land in dispute, and they removed the fence in a masterly manner, drawing the staples, and coiling up the wires, so in removal they have nob injured properby, bub asserted their righb bo use the land, and keep it as open Crown land. The fence is now levelled to the ground, and as it was done in daylight by men who are well known, it will be easy to punish or bring to justice any, or all, if they have done wrong.
The rewards which were offered some bime ago for the discovery of the persons who were tlamaging the said fence will now, no doubt, be claimed, as all parties concerned in this supposed outrage are respectable and well known. iVlr Buckland, who asked in the House about this matter,-may now see that his question is answered by men who are (as they state) protecting the rights of all to use the land in question, in spite of alleged monopoly.
