, As to experiments with the microphone Professor Milne tells an, amusing story: "We have listened through microphones," he remarked, "to the sounds produced in the earth. I have even carried the connec tion with the instruments up to my bed. room, and had it on my table, So that I could at once take hold of it. I have heard them giving torth noises, and I have gone out and dug up the microphone and found one littleanfc walkingabout somewhere."
