London, June 13. \ Lord Salisbury informed the House of Lords to-daythata telegram had been received from Captain Williams, at the Victoria Nyanza, dated March 31st, stating that fighting was at an end, and that the missionaries were safe. The Premier appealed to the public to suspend' their verdict on the action of the English officers in Uganda until their reports were received. He was unable to believe that Captains Lugard and Williams had committed the act of violence, alleged against them by the French and German press, but an inquiry would be held in due course. ;, London, June 14. Among the allegations brought against the British officers in Uganda is that they caused the drowning of 500 victims. In the House of Lords the Premier said he hoped the new Parliament would sanction the construction of a railway from the coast to Uganda. Lord Salisbury said he believed the East Africa Company would only, withdraw partially from Uganda.
