DEATH OF SIR CHARLES BURDETT.
OXR who has passed through a varied career died in the Costley Home lnsb night. We refer to Sir Charlea Wont worth Burrlett, seventh Baronet of Beuthwaito in tho colony of New York. Tho title was created in 1665, and tho deceased was the elder son of the sixth baronet who bore tho same name, and was an officer in tho liasb India Cair.pany'a Service. The deceased was formerly a lieutenant in the 54th foot, and subsequently in tho second Staffordshire Militia. About 30 years ago he came to this colony and enw service ns a sergeant in the Waikato No. 2 Militia. Afterwards he was in the Armed Constabulary Forco for nearly 11 years, and received his diecharge in 1674. Sir Charles was admitted to the Auckland Hospital in 1888, and upon his discharge was sonb to the temporary refuge in Princes-street, being transferred to the Costley Homo in 1890. Death resulted from excessive homoirhajje. Deceased was 65 years of ago. Ho leavos a wife nnd thrco children, tho son Charles Grant Burdott —who is sixteen year 3ot age —being now tho eight baronet. The frionda of tho deceased have notified their intontion of arranging for tho funeral.
