COLONIAL MILITARY COMMANDANT.
London, April 23. The Agents-General discussed Sir Andrew Clarke's minute, proposing that they should attend a meeting ol the Colonial Defence Committee, and suggesting that Commandants of the colonial Governments should receive an upward step in military rank at the completion of their period of engagement. With relerence to the latter suggestion Sir A. Clarke had pointed out that at present the inducements held out by various colonies were not sufficient to attract the ablest rising officers. The Agents-General decided to refer the minute to their respective Governments.
