ST. JOHN'S AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION.
In connection wibh the union of Literary Societies established lastyear under the auspices of V.M.C.A , the advisableness of the formation of ambulanceclassesduringtheensuing winter months has been under discussion for some time. Branches of the St. John's Ambulance Association have been established in the South for many years, Christchurch being the officially recognised centre for the colony, and Lord Onslow the President. In Auckland, however, the important work has been hitherto neglected, but it has now been determined by a number of genblemen to take immediate action towards the official establishment of a branch of tho Association in this city. Wheu this has been done the great benefibs of an efficienb course of training in "first aid" principles will bo secured to the general public, and no doubt such bodies as the Literary Societies' Union and V.M.C.A. will take the necessary steps to place their members within reach of the advantages thus afforded. Lord Onslow, who has been asked to preside at the public meeting, to be called to form the branch on Thursday, telegraphed to Mr Thomas Buddie his willingness to act as requested. The Mayor will be immediately requisitioned to convene a public meeting, and there is no doubt that the presence and patronage of His Excellency alone will secure a large attendance. The date and place of the meeting and the names of the speakers will be duly advertised in an early issue of this paper.
