MIKE MANAGERS' RETORTS,

H.VZiSLBANK. —The manger telegraphed this morning : —" 201bs of picked stone from tho seventh stope east of winze." He also reported that the reef in the western drive intermediate level has been split up, but is now more compact, thero being about two foet oi crushing dirt. Gold has been frequently soon in tho hungiiigwall when breaking down. A few pounds of picked stone ware obtained from the third and fourth scopes east, and colours of gold were freely seen through tho quarts!, In the iil'fch sLopo 81bti of picked stone were obtained. Crushing is still proceeding, and tho quart; , , is shaping better on tho plates." Caiuum , :.—Tho manager reports that the improvement in the bloeU above No. 2 level continues, and both faces are yielding a tair amount of ore. Carting ore to the battery is now proceeding. Friue ov KakakaG.M. Co., Ltd.—Tho manager reports that a start was made on Friday to rise to meet the winze coming down from tho upper level. Tho fourth fctope has been advanced a further distance of 30ft, tho quartz averaging about 14 inches in thickness, and in breaking down a few pieces of picked stone were selected from the general dirt. Magnolia.—The manager reports that tho reof in the surface drive is one foot thick. The stone is of a brown mullocky nature and drives gold when pounded. The manager believes another reef is close to hand hillward. MiNDKAU. — The manager reports that a trial crushing of twenty tons from tho leadeis in Jfo. 3 level has not proved payable. A crosscut has therefore been started to cut through tho Manukau eection of the mine, where he has

heard there is low-grade payable ore between the ehaft and Crown boundary.

Moanataiari. — The manager reports that gold has been seen at all points of operations, and the wonder is that better patches are not met with. There is a width of seven feet of Crushing dirt being broken out in the stopes west on the junction of the Reuben Parr and flat leads above the intermediate level. As the two lodes are now separating, better grade quartz should be obtained. He anticipates that the vertical lead ia near at hand in the crosscut. A separate body of stone has been intersected in the stopes on the Golden Age reef above tho 100 foot level. It is nice stone and shows good, strong gold.
