LAND AND INCOME TAX.
Mit William Duncax, Inspector under the Land and Income Tax Assessment, reburned to town to-day, after an official visit to the Waikato, returning via Te Aroha and the Thames. Mr Duncan says he has been checking the valuabione. In most cases bhere appeared bo be a general rise in valuabion right) through tho disbrict. Mr Duncan also sbabod bhab there seems to have been large sums spent during bhe past year in improving some esbabes, and the crops generally look vory satisfactory. He considered that tho people in tho country are in better heart as to the fuburo and now bhab bhe provision of the laud and income tax have been more fully explained a better feeling is manifested, there nob being so much grumbling as there was with regard to the Property Tax.
