A man named Peter Coffin, who resides at Port Fitzroy, Great Barrier Island, reported to the police yesterday that he had received news of tho sudden death of his wife It appears that Coffin left the Great Barrier on the 2nd ol January, and has been, in Auckland since that date. Yesterday, William Floyd, master of the cutter Vision, informed him that his wile bad died on Sunday. When the husband left homo his wife was suffering from a cold, and as there is no medical man w the district, an inquest will probably be necessary. Constable Macky proceeded to he Great Barrier last night to inquire into the eirsumstances of tho case.
