FAIR-PLAY MEN IN YACHT RACES.

The question of placing fair-play men on board tho yachts competing in the cham pionehips on Friday was re-considered last nit'ht, at tho largest meeting of tho Port Nicholson Yacht Club over held. Great interest was taken in the proceedings, as it was known an attempt was to be made to upset the resolution of tho previous evening, allowing ballast to bo shifted. 7Jhe Vice-Commodore urged for the honour of the part that fair-play men should bo placed on the yachts, so as to avoid suspicion that the bnll.u-.-o had been shifted, and alter a brief discussion ib was unanimously agreed that precautions should bo taken in thatdircotion. The Mapu was rigged yesterday and she and Bailey's r.oiv boat (iiuhina) are now moored alongside each other. The rating of tho secondclass yachts is :—Jessie Logan, 4min Isec : Carina, -imin 3see ; Mahina, 'lmin 6sec ; Mapu, bmln -isec; Onawe, rmiin 6=cc; Isea, Uir.iu 7sec; Thetis, 6niin Osec.
