OCEAN MAIL SERVICES.
DEPARTMENTAL ARRANGEMENTS,

Wellington, this day. Re the ocean mail services, the Post Office has been unablo to arrange a special intercolonial service to connect with Federal steamers at.Molbourne. Tho ordinary intercolonial boats will continue to be used for the European mails to and from Melbourne and Sydney. Mails for transmission by Federal steamer will leave the Bluff on Friday, following tho departure of the 'Frisco mail from Auckland with replies to letters received by tho previous weeks San Francisco mail from Dearly every part of the colony. Advantage will also be taken of the etoamors from Wellington and Auckland. For Sydney tnaUs will also be despatched by the direct steamers whenever there is certainty thab they will reach London as early as if sent by the Federal service. Correspondence will also be sent weekly for the federal steamers if specially addressed. With repard to the inward mails, the LorjdonPostOffico will send by tho Federal service correspondence posted during the firsb and second weeks following the departure of the San Francisco mail. Tho succeeding tsvo weeks correspondence will bo forwarded by way of 'Frieco, unless specially addressed to go by tho Federal service or by some other route. The public will be timely advised of the despatch of mails by tho Federal sorvico and direct steamers, and also of the probable dates of tho arrival in the colony of mails by the Federal service.
