BLOWING UP A WRECK.
(BY TELEORAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
Timaru, this day. Capt. Falconer, of the Torpedo Corps, this morning exploded 2,2401bs gun cotton to destroy the remains of tho ship Lyttolton in the roadstead. Thousands assembled to witness the explosion. All business was at a standstill for more than an hour, but as a spectacle it was quite a sell. The practical results have vet to be ascertained.
