Mr Oliver Fairs, surveyor, has obtained permission under Government auspices from the Ureweras to survey thoroughly some two hundred-thousand acres of territory inland from Ruatoke, in the Whakatane district. This is not improbably with a view to its acquisition by the Government. x\ny prospecting will result, however, in the expulsion of the survey party. ■
