SIR ANDREW CLARK, LL.D., - F.R.S., F.R.C.P. (Physician in ordinary to the Queen, 1881). LECTURE ON . ■'-To -- the ' Students of the London " Hospital. _ (Extract from the "Pall Mall Budget.") cc Tea, to be useful, should be first of all black China Tea. The Indian Tea which is being cultivated has become so powerful in its effects upon the nervous system that, a cup of it taken early in the morning, as many people do, so disorders the nervous system, that those who take it actually get into a state of tea intoxication, and it produces a form of nerve disturbance which-is most painful to witness." Although we are the largest dealers in Indian and Ceylon Teas in the Colonies, wo have always strongly advisad the public to drink our Blended: Teas in preference to Indian or Ceylon alone. We maintain they are too sickly for 90 pep cent, of the tea drinking public; and in England, where sucli large quantities arc shipped, over 80 pep cent, are used for Blending" with China, Teas, which aro undoubtedly as Pure as Indiar and Ceylon, and fap mopa refreshing" when properly Blended. Many ine_:per»ienced firms push Indian and Ceylon on the public because it is beyond them to produce a regular, true blond, and the profit is larger, for cheap common Indians give out a strong, coarse liquor, without any quality, and make people, fop a time, fancy they are getting a bargain, till they ilnd out, to their cost-, ihn.t SIR A. CLARK is right. The leading; medical men in England aro e_ii_de_tim_i_r tho use of Indian and Ceylon Tea aloone, and the above extract from Sir A. Clark's Lecture roust convince all that a taste for Indians, which has to bo acquired by force at f:pst, is a serious and dangerous thing. We are publishing the above extract for tho benefit of those that have not seen it, and to support what we have always maintained. This is against our own interests, for tho profit on these Teas is equal if not more than that on other kinds. NELSON, MOATE & C 0.,.
