FATAL BATHING ACCIDENT.

Invercargill, this day. Alfred Selby, son of the teacher atLurnsden, was drowned there yesterday morning while bathing. He was learning to swim, and had successfully crossed the lagoon, but on returning sank. The body was recovered, but long-continued efforts failed to revive life. The lad was a pupil at the Normal School, Dunedin, and aged 14. He had just gained a scholarship.
