THE ANNUAL POLICE RETURNS.

Tire annual police offences return for the year ended Decembor 31st, 1891, just completed, show 3 that the total number of offences reported was 2j275, against 2,373 in the previous year, or a net decrease of 08. The decrease is apparently due to a great falling off in tho number of arrests for drunkenness, the offences reported in 1891 being 931 against 1,077 recorded in the previous year.
