The locally-owned Island sfceamer Richmond, which returned to port this morning from her usual South Sea trading cruise, reports an uneventful ro'gfcl of a month. She called at ■ '.reriga, Samoa, Tahiti and Rarotoupa, as customary, but things were found to be very quiet in all the groups. Mr C. Edenborough, of Donaid and Edenboroueh, reports that a wealthy New York r-vviiciite, with a nominal capital of 250,0. 0" dollars, is buying up a large number oi the plantations and estates ab Tahiti (Society Islands) for the purpose of growinp aufrf.rand coffee. Amongsb the estates so acquired is the well-known Atirnona plantation, fcmwly worked by Mr Stewart.
