The Wellington Cricket Association have decided to send a team North, leaving on the lOth of February, and playing at Napier 6n the I2bh and 13th, and Auckland on the 16th and 17th. Mr C. McKinney, fcho Secretary of the Auckland Cricket Association, received a iFire on Dec. 4 from Mr F. D. Harman, the Secretary of the Canterbury Cricket Association, stating that the Chriafcchurch cricketers intend coining to Auckland on March 22nd. On December 15, the annual iiiYzeeed gig face between the Auckland Rowing l/iub and the Poverty Bay .Rowing Club took place in the harbour, the course being from Shelly Beach to the Hobsonstreet wharf. The Auckland crew, stroked by jVI. Keefe, won easily.

Tulloch showed cxcellenb form in the Cup and Stewards' Handicap, but some exception vraa taken to tho judge's decision in the Cup, some averring that Leorina had won, but the iinish waa 60 cbae that only the judge could toli which horse actually gob home.

The first day's racing in connection with tho Auckland Racing Club Summer Moefcing, or "Cup Day" as it may be termed, commenced under very auspicious circumstance?! on Boxing Day. The attendance was one of the largest that have congregated on the course, and all parts were crowded. The lawn was patronised with a lob of the wealth and fashion of Auckland, and it presented a gay and anutuUod appearance. During the afternoon the- sum of £10,060 passed through the machines. The sixth aqnafcic carnh.il of the Auckland Amateur Swimming Ulub, which was held in the Auckland Graving Dock on Saturday, December 19th, proved very successful and interesting. The first race wa3 the maiden race of 80 yards, which resulted :—A. Goldwater, 1 ; R. BlacU. 2 ; Ai Pagan, 3. The Boys' Race (undor 12) of 50yds resulted : J. N. Phillips (scratch), 1 ; E. Kenny (4sec), 2 ; A. Burke (scratch), 3. The event of the afternoon was the Waitemata Championship of 50yds, held by H. J, Bailey, and it excited great; interest. Baiiey again proved the stuff he was made of by winning the Championship after a splendid race, with M. Scott second and J. A. MeLeod third. The time was excellent, being 31 2-sbh sec. The contest for " neat header " resulted :—H. Nicholson, 1; W. Denison, 2. The Ladies' Bracelet, 100 yards, was ono of the principal events of the afternoon. It wae swum in three heats, owing to the large number of competitors, and eventually resulted : —C J. Brook (nominated by Miss Brook), 1 ; H. Cossar (nominated by Miss A. Eno), 2 ; S. S. Gittos (nominated by Miss Gibtos), 3. The time was lmin 29sec. The Tub Race resulted :— J. M. Brighnm, 1 : C. M. Dalton, 2. The Boys' Race (under 14) resulted :--JS'. White (4sec), 1; N. The Quarter - mile Handicap race brought; out a fine field, the race being four times the length of the dock. Hedges got the lead towards the finish, and came in six yards ahead of Nicholson, with A. Dutliio (scratch) third. The 50yds swimming race on the back resulted : J. K. McLeod (4sec), 1 ; J. Pelham (7sec), 2 ; H. Brigham (ssec), 3. The Calliope Handicapof 200 yds was a very fine race, sixteen starting. The event resulted : C. J. Brook (383 ec), 1 ; H. Dacre (14sec), 2 ; A. (.-fold water (2Ssoc), 3. The Blindfold Race creatsd great amusement. H. R. Nicholson won it. The Royal Mail Raco was a unique contest, for which five started. The North Shore team (H. Bailey) won well, with too City second. The Auckland Amateur Rowing Association are to be congratulated on the^ marked success which attended their annual regatta on Dec. 12. The new com so, in the waters of the upper Waitemata just below Pine Island, waa found to bo a splendid one.
