THE WELLINGTON PARK YEARLINGS.

Os Monday next, 4bh January, the Wellington Park yearlings will bo submitted to auction by Mr J. P. Philson, 'the wellknown kniglib of the hammer, and fchero is every promise of a very suoce3sful sale. A few days back, along with a soleob company, I renewed acquaintance with the yearlings that are to ba oflered, and which number 20 in all. The firefc Mr Morrin had led out for inspection wa3 a filly by Nordenfoldt from Maid of Athol (dam of Scots Grey and Queen of Trumps). She is very forward, and is a racing-looking young lady, possessing a good middle piece and quarters, and behind is let down like a greyhound. Another fine filly is that by Nordenfoldfc —Victoria (full sister to Adelaide), who possesses sizo and substance, and one that will improve daily. The filly by Nordenfeldt —Albatross (dam of Toksum and Loch Ness) locks in appearance like keeping up the credit of the great family from which she springs. She has an intelligent head, beautiful rein, groat depth of girfcli, splendid quarters and good legs, and 11 shall be mistaken if she does not fetch a big price. A filly that also pleased me was that by Johnny Faulkner, out of Tasmania, who possesses one of those good old pedigrees that all Australian breeders love to ponder over. She has rare bone and is well grown, I hardly think Mr Morrin will part with the Jngomar—Sylvia filly. She has no end of good points and shows heaps of quality. The most captious critic will not ho able to find a fault in the Nordenfeldt—Ouida filly (Strathinore's full sister) when she is led round the ring. What a beauty she is, to be sure ! There is size and quality combined, and I must say she is probably the finest; yearling filly I've ever looked over. There are some magnificent coli/3 in the collection, and two whom I incline greatly to are those by Sfc. Leger — Welcome Katie (darn of Tulloch) and the Nordent'eldfc —Yattacy colt. The firsfc-named i 3 evidently the makings of a racehorse, and is a very fine yearling indeed, whilo the Yatbacy colt has a lot of style about him, combined with quality and good points. The colb by Nordenfeldt — Bianca I've watched eincs ho was a foal, and in the point of good looks heia one of the best that will go.under tho hammer. Pie is a yearlong of great substance, and the only faulthe has is that he stands over a bit on one fore-knee. The St. Leger—Vivandiera colt is big enough for a two-year-old, and. no excopfcion can be taken to his conforms-1 tion, while tho ingomar—Stappe is another fine colb, who should fetch a high figure, for he is a half-brother to Sbepniuk. The same remarks will equally apply to the Ingomar—Onyx colt, and the Norclenfeldfc , Realisation "colb. What a buzz of excitement there will be when the Nordenfeldfc— Frail by colb is led round the ring, and, taken all round, there is nob a fault,to find In him. Hβ is a stronger-built colt than the full brother purchased by Mr-.Gollan. last year, and is batter in many other respects. The colt has a beautiful head, seb on to n good neck, with splendid back, loins, and barrel, and a, tremendous arm and terriiic quarters for a.yearling. There is bound to be some great bidding for possession of this splendid co\t. Mr L. D. Nathan will . send up a trio for sale, and these yearlings are located at the Star and Garter Hotel, a few minutes' walk from Wellington Park. The colb by Sb. Loger from Lovebird (dam of Leopold) is one of the best-looking that will be submitted, and he should fetch a high figure. Hs is hard to" pick a fault in. The brown filly by St. Leger—Cantiniere is a remarkably welt grown young lady, possessing size and substance, and is a full sister to Brown Boss, who has run po well in Sydney lately. The colt by St. Leger—Ronga (dam of Cinderella and Tit Bib) lacks size,_ but his breeding alono should lnixke him sell. Taken altogether, the yearlings are a remarkably good lot, and I shall hope to ego plenty of spirited competition for their possession.
