HOLIDAY TO RAILWAY EMPLOYEES.
(To the Editor.) Sin,—As it appears that you (through the columns of your valuable paper) are ever appealed bo in. "the cause that lacks assistance," etc., will you kindly jrive space for a few words on the injustice of not wiving the Auckland railway officials their"complement of holidays on days other than public holidays, as they can never be off duty on those days. . A petition should be signed and seub to the proper authorities, prayinK 'that railway clerks, etc., etc., should be granted .by burns a holiday (during the holiday • season) in place of every public holiday, which by the nature of their duties they are forced to iorego, and which other public servants and employees benefit by. In conclusion, I would point to tho hardness, for instance, of a case of half-a-dozen VounCT people in one family, where one, a! servant of the railway, works through a.l holidays, and sees the other five all employed in different places of business) all enjoying their outing in the fresh air..— I am, etc., • ■ • Justice. - i
