MEETING OF CREDITORS.

A first meeting of creditors of W. C. Miriin, flax miller, was hold this morning at the Official Assignee's office. Present :— The debtor and his solicitor (Mr S. Heeketh), and. the following creditors :— Messrs If. C. Tewsley (Sargood, Son and Ewen), S. Hesketh (for J. and VV. Lyell), Slator, John Reid and Captain Sinclair. The debtor's sworn statement was" read as already published. Mr Lawson gave particulars of the debtor's transaction with Mr Donald Ross in reference to the sale of a flax mill property on the Piuko River, and said that Mr Ross had produced the deed of sale, and he (bhe Assignee) believed ib to be a j valid purchase. Since then Mr Ross had come forward voluntarily with the follow- J ing letter dated 23rd of December: — "On the 14th of August, 1890, Mr Mirfin sold me the property known as the Fiako flax mills, leases, buildings, planb, and machinery for the sum of £300. On the 12th of June last Mr Mirfin leased the property at an annual rental of £50. Ib came to my notice thab other creditors eeem to think the property ie worth more than I paid for it; I therefore make this offer : If the creditors will pay me the sum advanced with interest and the rental duo, I will make over my title and intereet in the property to them." After the letter was discussed, the following resolution was agreed to on the motion of MrHesketh, seconded by Mr Tewsley : " Thab a reliable person be sent to tho mill fo vatlue the stock, mill machinery and all the assot3 in the estate, and to report to the meeting on the 6th January at 2.30 p.m."
